Documenting farming life.
A personal project

Whilst studying at Chester University I specialised in documentary Photography documenting farming life in the valley of Cwm Nantcol.

This was a personal project for me as I documented the farming life of the valley where I live. I spent a lot of time with each farmer and their families, capturing their daily lives and routines.

One of the main motivations behind doing this project was to show a way of life on rural family farms that some might not be used o seeing. I was determined to show that farming isn’t a job but a lifestyle that carries on for many generations on each farm.

There are jobs to be done in all-weather on a farm therefore I found it important to capture different weather condition that farmers have to be out in, day and night and the relationship they have with their animals and land.

Since graduating I’ve carried on documenting and visited a few livestock markets too on behalf of The Welsh mountain Sheep Society.
